2018 7 Days of Fasting and Prayer

7 Days of Prayer and Fasting: Day 4 – December 6, 2018. Based on “Experiencing God” by Henry and Richard Blackaby and Claude King

From December 3, 2018 – December 9, 2018 we are praying and fasting 12 hours per day (6am – 6pm) only drinking water.

Read:  Proverbs 3:1 – 10

Memory verse: Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

While God is omnipresent, that does not mean He is involved in everything. There are some situations which, while God allows to happen, He was not involved in initiating or completing. This is not because He is unable to do so, but because He never wanted it to happen or we took a wrong turn and did things our own way. That is why even though we may have an experience, we have to be careful to not misinterpret our experience if our stated outcome does not line up with The Word of God. Because we do not see what God see’s in our situation, we do not know how God intends to use good and even difficult life events to build our character, influence other people, or to further His kingdom. This is why we should always rely on Holy Spirit to show us the truth of our situation through the Word of God.

Jesus knew The Fathers will for His life daily by watching The Father’s activity; and then following God’s lead. He describes this process in John 5:17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.”; 19 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel. ESV. The key is to understand what God has done so that we can have a better idea of what He is doing. This allows us to know God both experientially (Eido inGreek) and through teaching (Ginosko in Greek). When what we experience lines up with what He has said and taught, that is when we can know it was God. That is why the saved can do all things through Christ; including help others become saved!

 Pray today:
1. To not allow our experiences to be the sole factor in determining the move of God in our lives,
2. To seek God’s will for our lives as shown in His Word, and
3. For a heart to obediently follow the lead of God’s Spirit in our lives.

After you read and pray throughout the day, be sure to take time to listen for God to respond. Keep a journal to record what you hear Him say.
