7 Days of Prayer and Fasting: Day 5 – March 16, 2018

From March 12, 2018 – March 18, 2018 we are praying and fasting 12 hours per day (6am – 6pm) only drinking water.

Day 5: March 16, 2018:

Read: Nehemiah 9:32 – 38

Memory verse: Nehemiah 9: 34 Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept thy law, nor hearkened unto thy commandments and thy testimonies, wherewith thou didst testify against them. 35 For they have not served thee in their kingdom, and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat land which thou gavest before them, neither turned they from their wicked works.

The leaders of Judah stood before the people in Jerusalem and prayed a prayer of confession and repentance for how their spiritual and governmental leaders had sinned against God. They understood that the best way to change the action of corrupt leadership is to petition the One Who is able to both punish and pardon the transgressions of those in leadership. Voting is very important, but without prayer, we risk voting in new problems to replace the current problems.

Pray today:
1. For a worldview of your church as you help build #teamKingdom (to see that your church is connected to a larger body).
2. For peace in your city (Chicago, suburb, etc.) so that Jesus’ peace rest on all city residents, and,
3. For peace for local, state and federal government officials as well as all first responders.

After you read and pray throughout the day, be sure to take at least 5 minutes to listen for God to respond. Keep a journal to record what you hear Him say.
