7 Days of Prayer and Fasting: Day 5 – June 22, 2018

From June 18, 2018 – June 24, 2018 we are praying and fasting 12 hours per day (6am – 6pm) only drinking water.

Day 5: June 22, 2018

Read: John 13:6 – 8

Memory verse: John 13:Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

Peter did not understand that Jesus was offering an illustration of His humbling Himself, leaving heaven and putting on human flesh in order to provide all of humanity with the opportunity to be saved and reunited with God by washing us with His blood. Jesus, Who was greater than all of the disciples, humbled Himself, like a sevant, to teach them a lesson on true servant-leadership. The lesson was that their mission was not about going higher or being regarded, it was about going lower to help others rise. The Man Who had performed so many power miracles now performs an act that was just as powerful yet did not include all of the fanfare. While the working of miracles showed Jesus’ authority, the washing of His disciples’ feet showed His humility. There is significant power in humility.

Pray today:
1. To seek opportunities to help others hear about Christ, accept salvation from Christ, and grow in Christ.
2. To be the example of servant-leadership in your family, community, job, etc., and,
3. For true humility to be shown in your actions.

After you read and pray throughout the day, be sure to take time to listen for God to respond. Keep a journal to record what you hear Him say.
