7 Days of Prayer and Fasting: Day 2 – September 18, 2018

From September 17, 2018 – September 23, 2018 we are praying and fasting 12 hours per day (6am – 6pm) only drinking water.

Day 2: September 18, 2018

Read: Acts 5:1 – 12

Memory verse: Acts 5:11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

Peter and John had been arrested and instructed to stop preaching and teaching in The Name of Jesus. Upon their release, the two apostles returned to the saints of the church in Jerusalem and informed them of what had just taken place. The saints, however, became even more committed to the continued spread of the gospel. As a matter of fact, they wanted it to reach even more people. That is why, according to Acts 4, they collectively prayed for the work to continue and then they sealed the prayer with a praise. The work, however, also needed to be financed through the generosity of the believers who understood that Kingdom giving is more like investing seed into rich soil than throwing money into a bottomless well. Unfortunately, a husband and wife named Ananias and Sapphira were dishonest about the seed they brought to help advance the spread of the gospel. The lie they told cost them dearly and both of them died because of the lie.

Christian stewards are expected and required to generously support the spread of the gospel through the local church. This generosity helps build and support the Kingdom. Never allow money to cause you to be dishonest and attempt to lie to God regarding the financial resources He knows He has provided. God will always bless you for blessing His Kingdom.

Pray today:
1. To have, develop and maintain a spirit of generosity toward the local church,
2. With thanksgiving that your generosity will help bring real and noticeable change to the community in which your church operates, and
3. With expectation that God will provide you with an abundant return because of your investment.

After you read and pray throughout the day, be sure to take time to listen for God to respond. Keep a journal to record what you hear Him say.
