You Do Have A Purpose!

Stop Spinning Before You Fall

A lot is said about our personal discovery of why we have been created by God but, in reality, this is not how many were taught to think. In many instances, we actually are taught to go to school, earn good grades, and, upon graduation from college, be in position to enter the workforce. Practically speaking, living life leaves little time to see if there is something else we are supposed to be doing.

Somewhere along the road of life, many get married, have a family, settle into a community, and enter a routine that generally consists of doing the same things over and over again. Yet, if you stop and think about it, there are times you may feel as if there is something more to life than the same daily, weekly and monthly routine. The desire to try something different, however, has jeopardized some marriages. The desire to try something different has led to some men and women having a midlife crises. This desire has caused many to experience unforeseen consequences simply because they felt the urge to try something different. The very thought of this can make you feel as if you are going in circles and at any moment will fall.

This reminds me of a game we would play as children. The game had no distinct purpose or defined winner. We would spin around in circles until we were dizzy and then try to walk straight. Of course we could not, and even though we did not understand it at the time, we put ourselves and everyone near us at risk of being injured. My mother would tell me, “Stop spinning before you fall.”

If this describes your life, this is God’s message to you: “Stop spinning before you fall.”

Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth!
Psalm 46:10

There is a defined purpose for your life. God desired to both save and help you reach the destiny He spoke even before you were born. He says as much in Jeremiah 29:11. It is His intent for your life to represent the best He has. You are not in competition with anyone, not even with yourself. You, instead, are designed to be a masterpiece original, created to please the Master. The key is to acknowledge that God has a plan for your life. Once you do that, look to pursue His plan knowing that He will never lead His children into a dead-end.

God will never lead His children into a dead-end

If you feel like your life has been spinning, I pray that you commit to it ending today. I pray that you commit to it ending now. Once the spinning ends, true clarity can be seen. The funny thing about clarity is that you are not only able to see new opportunities; you often find that the new opportunities are in familiar places.
